I have bought a picture. Here it is:
It is a screenprint by Jane Hyslop of the Nor Loch in Edinburgh, seen from the north;the kirk is St Cuthbert’s and the other shape seems to be a small harbour-cum-orchard.
In my enquiries about the picture I have learned about a scheme called Own Art, whereby instead of paying for a picture all at once you can pay in ten instalments, without any interest. It is an Arts Council scheme and if the government hears about it it will certainly be shut down. Meanwhile it is a good thing.
At the moment and for the next two weeks my picture is in the custody of the Edinburgh Printmakers, until I go and collect it. But I will be arriving in Edinburgh with a bicycle on my way to join the Great Western Camper Van Expedition. I am not yet sure how I will make my way south again with a bicycle and an unframed print. But certainly the GWCVE will call for so much resource and ingenuity that I will have thought of something by then.
